Sustainable Garden Design

Jennifer E. Curtis offers garden design services for residential and commercial clients in the Princeton region. Her style is a unique balance of the traditions of formal English gardens, an appreciation of native perennials and natural plantings garnered from the American Arts and Crafts movement, as well a sense of the peaceful rest of Japanese gardens. She has been inspired by her visits to the enchanted gardens of Asticou, Thuya and the Roosevelt grounds on Mount Desert Island, Maine, distilling the influences of landscape gardeners such as Beatrix Farrand and Gertrude Jekyll in her own work.

A deep knowledge of bulbs, keen intuition of native perennials and long standing fascination with roses have been part of her gardening education. Within her Garden Portfolio, she welcomes you to explore profiles of some of her most treasured perennials and plants, offering an intimate portrait of their likes, dislikes and ways to help them thrive in our region.

As a resource for those interested in plants and properties, Jennifer also invites you to visit her sister site, the blog Princeton Home and Garden. There she shares her ongoing thoughts on real estate, home and garden design, profiling interesting properties and Princeton area gardens.

Whether it be creating a grouping of container plantings that seamlessly tie together the outdoor experience of a home, from a welcoming garden gate to beautifully appointed window boxes, or designing a woodland garden with shade loving perennials and native shrubs that promise evergreen winter pleasure, or a wild abundance of spring and summer flowering perennials, Jennifer brings hands-on experience and intuitive plant wisdom to every project. With a passion for the art of plant selection and a belief that a garden should reflect the soul of its keeper, Jennifer looks forward to helping you to design the garden of your dreams.
